Surgeon Website

Exploring a Private Medical Practice Website: A Digital Product Learning Exercise This project invites participants to explore a real, publicly accessible website belonging to a private consultant surgeon's practice operating across the UK and Greece. Participants will examine how the site presents professional information, clinical services and contact pathways across its pages. The exercise is designed as an observational learning opportunity to understand how professional healthcare websites are structured and how information is communicated to visitors.

Overview

This project uses the publicly accessible website of a private consultant surgeon as an example of a professional healthcare website.

The website provides information about the surgeon's professional background, qualifications, experience, clinical areas, publications and practice locations. Its main navigation consists of Home, About, Treatments, Publications and Contact pages, providing a relatively simple example of how information can be organised within a professional website.

Participants can explore how the website presents professional credentials and experience, how clinical services are grouped and described, how information is organised across different pages, and how visitors are guided towards making an enquiry.

This learning opportunity is intended to provide experience in observing a real-world digital product and developing an understanding of website structure, information architecture, navigation, content presentation and user experience.

The activity is observational and reflective. Participants are not being asked to provide services to the website owner, promote the website, generate enquiries, conduct marketing or SEO work, or make recommendations for the website or practice.

Expectations

Participants are expected to explore the publicly accessible website as an independent learning exercise and to reflect on what they observe.

Participants may:

• Explore the publicly accessible Home, About, Treatments, Publications and Contact pages.
• Observe how professional information, qualifications and experience are presented.
• Consider how the clinical services are organised and described.
• Observe how navigation, headings, calls to action and page structure guide visitors through the website.
• Reflect on aspects of the website that they personally find interesting and on what they learn from the experience.

Participants must not:

• Contact the surgeon, practice or website owner as part of this activity.
• Submit the website's contact or enquiry form.
• Enter or upload real patient information or personal information belonging to another person.
• Attempt to access restricted, private or administrative areas.
• Undertake marketing, SEO, sales, lead generation, audience research or competitor research.
• Create promotional material or social-media content for the website.
• Make recommendations intended to improve the website's commercial performance.

The purpose of the activity is observation, exploration and personal learning. Any notes or reflection produced are for the participant's own learning record and are not intended as a commercial deliverable for the website owner.
