Overview
BetaTesters.org is a publicly accessible beta-testing recruitment platform that connects software developers with volunteer testers. The public website presents a selection of beta-testing projects and explains a simple process through which testers can register, try a product and provide feedback.
The platform provides an interesting example of a digital service that brings together different types of users and explains their relationship through a relatively simple website. Its public pages provide information about the testing process, available projects, rewards and the platform's terms and privacy arrangements.
For this project, participants can explore the publicly accessible website as an outside observer. They can consider how the platform introduces itself, how individual projects are presented, how the testing process is explained and how the website guides a first-time visitor through the information available to them.
The purpose is to develop personal understanding of digital platforms, user journeys, information organisation, onboarding and website communication through observation of a real-world example.
This is a learning and discovery activity. Participants are not asked to test products, recruit testers, submit feedback, contact developers, produce promotional material or provide any other service to BetaTesters.org or its operator.
